Opening a Can Of Worms

My hands are colored
Completely in blood.
Blood that doesn’t belong to me—
It doesn’t pour out of my skin.

It’s there, the guilt
Slithering, drying and some still wet.
My heart knocking mortally—
My eyes shutting in the light.

However, I laid on my back,
Without a fight.
Giving away my pristine dignity.
Murdering my ignorance.

I asked myself “How could you?”
As I rinsed myself in water,
Opening a can of worms—
Killing my innocence.
