Just For One Moment

I wanted my heart to stop
The quiet thumping to end
The earth to stop waltzing around its perfect axis
The sun to stop radiating its golden essence into the universe
The flowers to stop blooming in their glowing iridescence
Just for one moment
One second
One minute
One hour
So I could take it, bottle it, and keep it in my pocket
Hold it close to my heart in the dark abyss of the night
See it in my dreams instead of a haunting nightmare
Then when all is gone and I open my eyes
the sweetness of this life is still here with me
Saved from the black hole consuming our hearts
Answers to my cries from the empty forest
A light to shield me from all the anger, evil, and sadness
Just for one moment
I wish I could
