"Rather than love, than faith, than fame, than fairness, than money, give me truth"

If I had tried just a little bit more
would you still have wanted to close the door?
Would you have burst into tears if I called your name?
Would you have told me that it wasn’t the same?
Would you shut me down and hang up the phone
if I called because I was feeling alone?
Would you tell me how it wasn’t right?
Would you push me away or hold me tight?
If I had been better at keeping my cool
would I still be your loveable fool?
Could I have had you for another day
If I had the courage to beg you to stay?
Do you think that we were wasting our time
living for a love impossible to find?
Would you now say we were never meant to be?
Did you forget the feeling of being with me?
If you stared into my eyes would it all come back?
Would you have noticed that my heart turned black?
Would you apologize if you heard me cry?
Would you feel remorse for the way you lied?
If I had never loved you from the start
would I still feel so torn apart?
And if I had done all of this to you
would you be writing poems too?

Let your smile change the world. Don't let the world change your smile.

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities."
--Dr. Seuss

This is so incredibly beautiful.
