“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
― Dr. Seuss

What if my path was all my own
My footsteps straying from the worn path
Wandering, twisting and turning back on itself until finally staying straight

What if I could escape the Cave of Adullam
And the demons that lurk in the shadows
Waiting to drink the life-blood
Licking the mysteries as they drip

What if I was sure that I was wishing on stars
And they weren’t simply satellites
Or planes blinking by in the night

What if I was heard?
Instead of just background noise of an old record stuck on repeat
Would it matter if I was heard after all?
Do not fly too close to the sun
Neverless, Icarus paid no heed

What if I could take the hand outstretched to me
Without being worried about a sea of a million risks
Or my fear of drowning

And what if my words were reckless
Would they lose their virtue
And was I not so familiar with the bend of the sky
Would the sky still be the sky and heaven still be heaven

This is just the poem I needed to read today. I'm not so happy today. Long story. But this made this made me feel both sad and happy.
