Leftover Love
Do you ever feel afraid
That your heart is too big
And the world is small
To hold everything that is inside of it
So all you can do
Is let the Love sit
Waiting at your feet
Waiting to fill something
Waiting to be expressed?
And what if the Love
Has nothing to love?
Or the Love is given away
But then is given back
Unwanted?
And when it is finally time
To say goodbye
Where does the leftover Love go?
It seems a crime
For the Love to disappear with you
Never having the chance
To fill a void
Or brighten a day
Or save a life
But instead
The Love goes with you
Never fulfilling its purpose
And you are stuck
Forever reminded
Of how the earth could not hold
The Love you tried to place upon it.
