“As my artist’s statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and is therefore full of deep significance” ~Calvin and Hobbes

I stare at the sky above,
so dark, so serene.
What secrets does it behold?
We may perhaps never know.
I see the little fireflies,
they remind me of you.
The way you used to light up when you smiled,
Oh, that beautiful smile!
They say that people turn into stars
when their time on earth is up.
But then, why don't I feel you anymore?
Why are the stars so quiet?
I remember crying in your arms the last time,
and yet, you told me you were going to be fine.
You lied.
Your greatest strength was also your greatest weakness,
for there comes a time when the truth unfolds.
I didn't ever see you shed a tear,
even when the cancer gnawed on your soul.
Now the empty sky reminds me of you,
your unkempt bed, your stories, your home.
I remember us as little girls,
gossiping about the world.
We built castles of trust and love,
You were my best friend, my mentor.
Memories of our silly fights,
now merely make me cry.
I know its been a while now,
but the wound's still as fresh as ever.
You left me to fight the world all by myself,
that wasn't a part of our deal you know.
We were gonna conquer the world together,
And I don't know how to do that alone.
But I do know you're out there somewhere,
Smiling at me right now.
Gosh, I know what you must be thinking, "Ha-ha, you cry funny!"
Since it's the first anniversary today,
I'm here just like we planned.
I'm wearing this hideous outfit,
just like you planned.
I know you'd want me to be okay,
so I shall promise you this;
I'll not breakdown again,
For you were right.
Every moment counts in your life,
'carpe diem', right?
I also promise you that when I rule the world,
I'll name it after you my friend.

This poem is dedicated to all such people who have lost their loved ones at some point in life.
People we love truly, never really leave us. No matter how far they are, they are always there :)
