The new generation trying to make a home in places they've just found.
Betrayed by the land they knew so well.
Hollow promises of the fulfilling “American dream.”
Promises of real happiness.
We’ve just found that our hearts easily give up.
Tears are filling up these broken glasses.
They said we’d find the answers in what we live and die for
But what we’re dying for ain’t worth it.
Waiting until we feel good.
Every child should have the chance to be a child.
Not grow up so soon and experience a mad man’s fate.
And now I’ll start begging, repeating things that you told me.
Pretending what social dictators say comes from inside me.

I had to read The Jungle for school and while I was reading and analyzing the book I was writing this poem. It reminds me a lot of the book. ENJOY!
