Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.

Once upon a time ago,
the poppies in the meadow
covered the hills and reached up to my knees
so I asked, Daddy could i pick them, please
He ruffled my hair and teased,
but gave in to my small pleas
And I, jubilant, ran for miles and miles
until my exhaustion ended my smiles
There I stood under sunset,
hoping he did not forget
I clung to my treasures, waiting til dusk
he carried me home, as I inhaled his musk
The poppies wilted to my dismay
so I asked, Daddy, could we go today
He knelt to the ground with tears in his eyes
and told me to look up at the skies
Confused, I did as he said
and heard the bullet shoot through his head
I laid my poppies on his chest,
hugged him tight, then left him to rest.
