Wounds Heal

People say that wounds will heal
But I’m not sure I believe that’s real.
Because once you left
I slowly got stitched up;
Even though my stitches got pulled out
Over and over and over again.
Because every time I think of you
I think about all I have lost;
And when I start to feel better
I get tossed
Back into the past.
If only there was a way
To ensure a permanent delay
Of the thoughts I have of you
Every day.
