I take back my tears
the wasted years
I spent crying
for what never could happen

I take back my heart
my shattered heart
Up off the ground
and back in my arms

I take back my hope
wasted on you
and toss it aside
for it has no meaning now

Nothing you say
no words
no songs
can heal the bleeding wound
That you opened again and again

I walk a free woman
held by nothing of yours
and fly away free
as free as the wind

It's simple and at the same time holds great meaning.  I have to say it's one of the better ones I've read :) You've done an amazing job with just these few words.  I myself write mostly of the pain brought on by someone I thought I loved.  I can relate to this one in so many ways.  Keep it up! I like everything about it!

Yours truly,

Alexandra

As I read this poem I identified with it completely - it felt like it had been written about me, which is something I love about it, cos it could be about anyone as it is such a universal theme. Amazing! :)

"The poet ranks far below the painter in the representation of visible things, and far below the musician in that of invisible things. Why does the eye see a thing more clearly in dreams than the imagination when awake?,"Leonardo da Vinci.

When, i first read this poem, it helped me git rid of memories of someone that i needed to forget. I love your poem, the word choice is wonderful, and truthfully it's one of my favorite poems!
