I got in a car
with a stranger once.
The dusty handlebar mustache that covered his mouth.
The husky sound of his voice
like a grizzly growling.
It was late at night,
the hazy street lights lit the pavement
casting shadows on the sidewalk.
The leather seats which my legs were suctioned to.
The smell of
tobacco
and chewing gum.
The muddy floorboards on which my Nikes rested.
Turning left, turning right,
stopping at the lights.
I got in a car with a stranger once.
But,
he was only the taxi driver.
