Twilight
It’s the side of me.
That you never see,
The one that really matters.
An endless, churning, chaotic sea,
With hopes and dreams that aren’t to be.
I hate it for so many reasons,
Yet it plays such an important role.
The chasm in me that eats away,
But now is as normal as night and day.
Not a day goes by without its resistance.
Lashing out and fighting,
Making sure I can’t go the distance.
I’m right on the edge and ready to fall,
Then it will end, that’s it, that’s all.
Unless my heavy wings grow lighter,
My chains looser,
My hopes brighter.
‘Cause I can soar,
I can really fly.
All I need it the chance to try.
But the outlook isn’t bright,
It’s bleak to say the least.
So I’ll keep fighting,
For the time being,
In the belly of the bast.
