"I am of the wind whos sound is heard, yet none can tell from whence it comes or where he goes."

Fingers pointing
name dropping
half-shouted
lies

self-protecting
ever hiding
stifled in their
sleep

dark room
judging eyes
praying hands
beg

unheard voices
no free choices
it's all decided
doom

block of wood
swinging metal
a shock of red
blood

one last word
to be heard
all alone
innocent

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem inspired by the unfair trials, tortures, and executions during the 1500's, specifically the inquisition. I believe like poems help people understand through empathy and I find this particular time period is often misunderstood or simply forgotten.
