Losing Ignorance

Before I grew up It was like playing in the clouds
like a never ending dance
like a king on a throne of gold
like a dog who knows not of his masters intent
like Stonecrop blooming just before the winter
it was Persephone in spring
but when life changed suddenly it was paradise blown away
now its like watching a balloon ride into a storm
like an eaglet getting pushed out of its nest
like a knife forever painted red
