I see your eyes; So hallow, so sad.
You trace your jawline, too chubby to be pretty.
Your eyes run the length of your body,
You believe that you're fat, but you're not.
You come home and stare at me all day,
As though I can show you, tell you, who you are.
I wish that I could.
I wish that my reflective glass surface would tell you the truth.
Your body is perfect, your eyes are beautiful.
You don't need that make up to cover up your freckles.
Your teeth are just fine, so smile at me Please.
I wish that you would see what I admire, what I see.
Those kids at school don't look at you for hours.
They don't see the goofiness inside you when you dance and sing like you're free when you're alone.
They don't notice the way you smile at the smallest things because disappointment defines your expectations.
and they don't see the truth and neither do you.
Because I can't show you what's inside.
I can't show you the way you care about others all the time.
I wish you would just see past all your "flaws".
Because you're so beautiful.
That's what I see.

This is a slam poem in the point of view of a mirror. It was an assignment given to me in Creative Writing, the topic being "What do you see when you look at me?"
