"Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game."

Running from the lies that surround me,
by magical willow
the root grows and grows
letting me trip and fall.
It’s sandy and gooey where I plummet.
As I’m under this sandy doom,
I feel hands,
hundreds of hands grabbing me,
pulling me farther under,
to what I expect is my demise.

As I travel down,
I begin to see
a magical dimension
I soon remember that I created as a child.
It’s full of unique creatures
and colors not yet seen by man.
Sneaky goblins,
that crawl up behind me.
Fire breathing fairies;
I shouldn’t get too close.
Purple eyed dragons,
that spit fairy dust;
they’re fun to fly on
with their massive,
scaly wings.
Monsters that come and go,
almost like magic.
They’re not mean,
but actually quite friendly.

A cotton candy sky,
with clouds for stairs
that you can climb
to reach up to the heavens.
The gummy stars are also there;
day and night,
they light up for those who really need their help.
Soft and fluffy.

Bubble gum trees,
with black licorice branches.
A strawberry banana flavored lake.
Crushed up Oreos;
they make up the dirt,
with talking,
breathing,
gummy worm creatures living inside.

Sour air head streamer grass;
it’s rainbow colored and delicious,
but not so nutritious.

A ditzy,
high-on-sugar butterfly queen;
I think she’s quite mad,
but all normal people are.
I ask her how to get out of here,
but she says I must find it within me.
So I follow the talking trees,
who really aren’t much help at all.
They just leave me in a daze,
pointing me here, there, and everywhere.
I don’t know where to go,
so I guess,
I should just stay a while.

As I wander through my colorful dimension,
lost in thought,
I come across a sad little creature.
He has the melancholy face of a lion,
and the body of a human.
Poor little lion face;
crying,
weeping,
he’s so sad.
Oh no.
I think the evil centaur has killed again.
“Please help me”;
that’s all I hear him say.
But I can’t reply.
I just look at him
with question in my eyes.
“The evil centaur has taken her,” he cries.
“Taken who?” I ask.
I’m shocked,
He speaks!
“Taken the pale-faced, blue-eyed baby butterfly girl.”
Engulfed with rage,
I grab the itty bitty hands of the tree branch twins
and poor little lion face,
and we’re on our way to save the butterfly girl,
from the evil ways of the devilish centaur.

We run into many obstacles
while on our journey to being heroes.
He huffed,
and scuffed his paws
as though he was going to attack
with his humungous horns,
but instead,
he just stands there,
looking at us
with his big bull nose
and sad little red eyes;
helpless.
Then I realize it;
he’s on our side.
“Come Bull Face, the battle would be nothing without you.”
So he bows his head in honor,
and joins us.

We begin our long walk to battle once again,
but we’re soon stopped;
we’re lost.
Not for long, however,
because the beautiful red and blue gummy stars,
light up the sky and lead the way for us.

Many creatures stop us,
Not to hurt us,
but to join us for this treacherous battle.
The fire breathing fairies,
the purple eyed, fairy dust breathing dragons,
even dopey and peach fuzz,
the sneaky goblins,
join us.

Before we know it though,
we are on the grassy battlefield,
not knowing what’s to come.
Will we live?
Will we die?
All we know,
is we must reunite and conquer;
reunite the queen with her precious daughter.
and conquer the evil centaur queen,
along with her army of deformed giants.

We waited and waited
until finally,
we knew it was time.
Stomp! Stomp! Stomp!
“They’re coming!”
Twig and Twiggy said in unison.
then I saw them;
they’re hideous faces,
and deformed bodies.
Then I just do it;
I shoot the first arrow and begin the battle.

As I,
and the wonderful creatures I have met through this Kaleidoscope,
attack the deformed giants,
Twig and Twiggy snatch up the butterfly girl,
and swing from tree to tree,
with their branchy arms back to the butterfly queen,
reuniting mother and daughter.
Then suddenly,
the evil centaur falls dead.
As she falls,
so does her atrocious army.

Next thing I know,
I am falling through quicksand once again,
back to where I came from.
I shall return, though,
to my kaleidoscope dimension,
someday.

This was an assignment I had to do for my Creative Writing class. I had to create my own 'Wonderland', like Alice in Wonderland, and this is where my creative mind took me.
