It was July 11th on a Sunday,
And I was excited for the teams to play.
While laying there on the couch
At my cousin's house,
I was waiting for the time to pass by
For the kicking to start, oh, I sigh and sigh.
The game hasn't begun,
Where's all the fun?

Finally! It seems like hours later,
But I could now see every player.
They're saluting to their national anthem
And I sit there listening to them.
Several minutes passed
And they're running at last!
I cheer for the orange team,
My eyes watching with a gleam.
This is so exciting
Watching them fighting!
Kicking and fouling,
Fans screaming and shouting.
This is what it's like for hours,
The trophy could be ours!
Both teams are still playing,
Extra time probably needed, as the announcers were saying.
It was close to the time for penalty kicks,

The Netherlands was the team that I had picked.
But suddenly, there was a shout of "GOAAALLLL!"
I literally jumped out of my shoes' soles,
Because guess what?!
Spain has kicked the Dutch's butt!
Oh, that goal turned me into a mess,
I was so angry and depressed.
I had a few tears streaming down my cheek,
I felt like some emotional freak.
I couldn't believe they won!
The Netherlands' happiness was gone...


Well, the Netherlands will hopefully have more luck next time.
Because they will beat Spain, and every other country, and see them whine.
