Ode to Promises

To make a promise is to link two hearts
A statement, some actions, that is how it starts
A vow that can last forever or last a day
And if not kept, there will be a price to pay
A promise comes in so many forms
From an emotional understanding to pinky swears
A way to know that person cares
A lifetime of sharing and hoping people stay true
To look at someone and say, “This is my oath to you.”
