doe eyes

knobby kneed we Bambi stalked
through mossy husks of whispers,
creaking floorboards, splintered
lips hooked like Velcro.
phantom limb -- you broke
anesthetic skin, an arm
I didn't know was missing
now strung across my chest,
us,
plucked from an entropic
universe coalescing,
pre and post big bang,
single points of matter
tucked beneath a mossy leaf,
knobby kneed fawns stalking
through the underbrush.
warm lamplight,
briefly stained into retinas,
after lights-out,
we are that dissolving moment in reverse.
