"I'm a walking travesty, but I'm smiling..." - All Time Low

One guy among many
One love among heartbreakers
You were a supposedly unique love you were supposedly only mine.

You were one gold chain
In the midst of silver
You were a splash of silk
In the midst of a sea of wool

You turned out to be fools gold
A beautiful fake metal
You rusted in time
Rusting my hope in love

Now you are a memory
Penetrated deep in my soul
Now you are locked in my conscience
Destroying my belief in time

Sadly, you were still unique:
Less precious than the silver,
Rougher than the sea of wool,
The most devastating heartbreak among many.

I wrote this as an Anti-Love poem for a school competition, feeling the "anti-love" i have for Valentine's Day really inspired this peace.
