The Ever-present Why
Ink fades from the pages of her life
Stories
Lost
Gone
Out of Sight
And she asks me where she’s been
where she is
who am I
And even though I know
I cannot answer
Why?
I can see the cheek bones
That live behind her skin
The steps she takes are child’s
So slow
and paper thin
And she asks me where she’s been
where she is
who am I
And even though I know
I cannot answer
Why?
One moment she was blunt
Dark lines
Sharp twists
And now she’s ground like dust
So small
Just bits
And she asks me where she’s been
where she is
who am I
And even though I know
I cannot answer
Why?
