The Horror
‘Keep your eyes opened’ she whispered to me
Close them, not even, when you sleep
Beware beware of shadows so grim,
Insolence, and arrogance, the horrors within
A story once told of a blind man’s fall
With eyes open yet, caught by surprise
Darkness cloaked his heart; he met his demise
He fell from his tower, this man so tall
A man with vision but no true sight,
Only in his darkest hour could he see the light
A story told so many times
Yet no knowledge learnt from a fool’s pride
A stories a story; they let it slide
‘Keep your eyes opened’ she whispered to me
Close them, not even, when you sleep
Beware beware of shadows so grim,
Insolence, and arrogance, the horrors within
