Corrode Away

The salty tears are here to stay
They fall and there they lay
They seep into the ground
I’m so lost without you
I fear I may not ever be found

The chains kept me from going afloat
They made it real, these feelings I tote
But now they've corroded away
These salty tears,
The price I now pay

Though I’m free
Lost is all I’ll ever be
It’s never easy to say goodbye
Those that know,
They don’t lie

It’s easy to say I’ll be strong
It’s easy to say you won’t be long
But that isn't fair
It’s a heavy burden
One we both bear

It’s scary to think
You’ll be gone in a blink
Though I’m still shackled
It’s broken
The rust weakened and it crackled

You’ll come back, this I know
Something in my heart tells me so
I hope nothing changes until then
Until then

Farewell my friend
