Memories
Floating through my head, like one floats on the Dead Sea
Forever present
Memories
Concentrated in my head
Like the atoms in a solid, refusing to move
Memories
The only remnant of past times
Like a diary
Memories
Some pleasant
An evening with friends, a dinner with family, a book I read
These I barely recall
The roots of the tree, sometimes finding their way up
Memories
Some unpleasant
A quarrel, an embarrassing episode, the time I fell over
The ones I wish to forget
Remain unwaveringly at the top, the branches, the leaves of the tree
Growing bigger, taller, longer
They don't leave me
Memories
Some precious
The ones I treasure
Barely make it past the layers of mud, past the roots, the branches
The ones buried the deepest
Lying abandoned at the very bottom
Forever forgotten
The last time
I held his hand
Large, warm, Wrinkly
The last time
I looked into his eyes
Always sparkling, full of love, excitement
The last time
I heard his voice
Scary, deep, wise
The last time
I said I cared, I love you, goodbye
The last time
Now I can only dream
Hope for a rewind button
Try, and try, and try to remember
Treasure every moment
Make it count
Live life to the full
Remember
