Snowing
What is it about falling snow,
That makes everything so beautiful?
That makes everyone happy and serene?
Fresh on trees and rooftops, bright white.
There's something thrilling about waking,
And looking outside to the surprise of snow,
That was sprinkled on the neighborhood,
As if granting children's dreams that night.
Almost hating to step outside,
And ruin the smooth blanket on the ground,
Yet hearing nothing but feet crunching snow,
Could be the most soothing sound.
Snow seems to bring out the best in people.
We seem to favor hot chocolate,
And our slippers and pajamas,
And spending all of our time with loved ones.
How can crystals that fall from above
Cause such serendipity among society,
And such utter calmness all over the country?
