"if you die today, the only people who'll care are the people you served with, to this country your just another foreigner."-the French Foreign Legion

We are here from everywhere
you are different from me
from a first glance stare
but we are here to be

the days are long and the nights are short
we march together
we the country without a country to sort
knowing it never gets better

yet we are here together in hell
from our homes far away
like rain drops we fell
but in the legion we stay

we are the few
we are the mixed
we march on through
here in the legion we are fixed

The author's comments:
the FFL is an elite division of the french army, but they do not allow any french nationals. they only allow people from other countries to join them in a rich brotherhood of war and glory. facts though, only 1,000 out of 6,500 make it into the legion each year. the volunteer then gets a new name and identity. murderers and drug dealers are the only types of people not allowed to join.
