It was like a walk through serenity;
Fractured puzzle pieces coming together as our hands did the same.
We just walked with only a word or two parting our lips…
But words soon became a story;
Love soon turned into a run.

I didn’t consider our momentum to throw us out of each other’s orbit
Nor for my legs to continue carrying me closer to the edge
Although I kept looking over my shoulder.
When I didn’t see you…
My words turned into a terrified sprint.

You made me tired and I know you won’t sing me to sleep anytime soon.
Tuck me in one last time and let this bedtime story come to an end…
Happily ever after must feel better than climb to the mountain of forever.
When my heart collides with yours were bound to fall, aren’t we?
Your song, perhaps, kept me from seeing the cracks in the sidewalk.

Falling isn’t the part that gives me the grief
It’s just when I hit the ground that woke me up.
Bedtime stories can’t always keep us in bed,
But you don’t care because you want me to think about you.
Tremors of the mind have kept me at a standstill.

I can feel your gravity drawing me near,
But it feels like a good time to go.
Goodnight…
Dream of the dreams you’ve been waiting to dream…
And don’t miss me too much in the morning.
