“Harmless”
His eyes are the color of metallic cobalt,
his hair is a fiery blaze spiked with gel and perfectly styled.
Voices and music were distant,
almost inaudible.
His hands whispered secrets as he held firmly onto mine.
Flames licked at the inside of my chest,
and my eyelashes fluttered like a hummingbird’s wings.
Suddenly aware of my fingertips caressing something
coarse,
A zipper jammed my airways shut, leaving me
breathless.
One kiss…
My heart melted like an icicle in a sauna,
I exhaled a tornado of guilt, begging for
innocence.
My body relaxed like a wasted away ragdoll,
And my mind went numb.
All thoughts of consequence dissolved,
and I escaped into a world of velvet darkness.
Warm and soft, my very soul disintegrated to a state of
eternal bliss.
In my mind’s eye, all I could picture were his
narcotic cobalt eyes; his hair ablaze with a fiery orange tint.
We were limitless.
Our intentions may have been askew; our thought processes
slightly sideways.
A new thrill?
Fresh desire?
I will never know.
The flames in my chest die down, a cool waterfall descending upon
the fire of my guilt.
The delightful velvet darkness I had been swimming in is chilled to
an arctic temperature.
Eternal bliss is extinguished, and reality seeps back through the cracks of my
judgment.
Adrenaline flooded my muscles, and my spine lifts me to an upright position.
A quick excuse,
A short goodbye.
That was the end of it…
All of it.
