"To thine own self be true," -from Hamlet, a play by Shakespeare.
"I have sworn on the altar of god eternal hostility against all forms of tyranny over the mind of man." - Thomas Jefferson

I turn on Internet radio
I hear a sappy love song
I sit down
And Take a sip of pop
It's times to write another teenage angst poem

one about trying to belong
Or trying be strong in the face of bullying
Maybe, if I'm feeling especially good mode,
it will be about suicide
Or my friend who is constantly bullied because he has gay pride
Or that boyfriend  that dump me the other night
Or how the whole world should lay down weapons and stop the fight

I know it easier to write about being sad
But when does the whole  "express your anger" premise turn bad?
Can't something be art
If a not talking
being teased
My sexuality
Or the struggles of my art
Or how my parent are never pleased

I know world has problems; it true
But beside simply looking out window or turning CNN for a quick view
I can log on to teen ink for sec
Press the poetry section
And if I check
I see all the worlds issue in a view
If only all my personal problems came in rhyming  verse too!

I must admit
I a have fallen to this black hole of my art
A have poem title :
out of my head
In my teen ink profile one of my  favorites is a poem titled cheerily "I want to be dead"

I know the world does us all wrong
I know love is often unrequited
And hatred is often strong

But sometime life is a song
And it treats you gently and like it did when you were young
Sometime flowers bloom
And the worlds is bright
And a young idea is in planted in your mind
And all you have is good  friends and a fun time

I going make first step
To right  this wrong
And promise never to write, at least not tonight
 another teenage angst poem

Ps. Please check  my profile tomorrow. Hopeful by then, my new work, I hate the world , will get posted! :) here's a sample

I hate world
It's true you see
Maybe,
I wouldn't hate the world
If it didn't hate me

The author's comments:
This is sorta Both a sarcastic sorta poem but also a cry for justice. I feel like often time, as teenage artists, we forget that while we can use poetry to get through the struggle of life, we can also use it to celebrate triumphs and Beaty of it. So, I think collectively as writer we can all try to write about a bit of positive stuff too. :)
