my Shade

wrap me up in barbed wire
let me burn on the pyre
I live my life without regrets
every mistake
a lesson met
can't say I was happy
can't say I was sad
the in between spaces are
what I had
I didn't live life wild
or chase the demons
haunting me
but I lived my life
the best way I could see

flesh to bone
bone to dust
we live our lives
we corrode
like iron to rust
we love and hate
we laugh and weep

now I meet my Shade in
eternal sleep
