One Year

I step into the night and let it all sink in
Clinging to this calmness that I hope will never end
I whisper into the darkness,
"I wish you were still here"
Because you were the one that taught me to never give into my fears
And it was just a year ago that you told me you loved me too
And it was just a year ago that I lost you
I'll never forget you
This is a promise I will make
And as I grow older, these emotions, I won't be able to fake
'Cause now that you're gone, I can shed these tears
But even though you're gone, I can still feel you here
