I am surrounded by people,
yet alone.
My heart is gone,
back home, where it stayed,
when I came to this
foreign land.

I know not what
to do.
My mind keeps my body
occupied, doing
school work and such.
Going about the everyday
activities--
school, eating, family.

My memories come alive
whenever I rest,
whenever
I stop to think,
to remember,
to feel.

I am alone,
there is no one here
who I love,
outside of my family.
No one who I can love,
and be loved by,
even as friends.

I'm alone, regardless
of how I act,
or seem.
No matter how I
answer a questionnaire,
or if I say
"I'm awesome!
How are you?"

Alone,
my heart long gone,
back to its home,
where I can love
and be loved,
regardless of who
I love.
Where I can be
near to my
Love.

I wrote this shortly after moving, and the homesickness took a bit of a hold on my writing.

Thank you! It feels good to know that I'm not the only one who feels like that sometimes :)
