Bestial Battleground

A fierce grace lines the ranks of the battlegrounds,

Lurking like a shadow, hollow,
sunken beauty tethers the bodies,

piled high, they stain the horizon,

streaking the impending skyline

blanching a frightened generation

As the piercing cracks of gunfire

Litter the air.

A sharp metallic taste, a

figure in the gloom,

shot down, a game piece, a gamble

murderous beauty lurking in the slayer’s eyes,

damp tears, smudge his wary face.
