Disturbance MAG
Indigenous inhabitants of the frigid oasis know of you,
but you not of them.
The pastoral surface of their home conjures false solitude.
The music of forests overpowers the silence.
You touch your toe to the water's surface, disturbing the glassy facade.
The music ceases.
No crickets chirp. No frogs ribbit.
Nature veers its gaze to you.
The great authority of the water roars.
The forest cheers. An execution.
An extravagant hand emerges from the
water's depths and pulls you under.
No escape.
Like a flash of lightning, it ceased.
The forest returns to its normal antics.
And in the middle, a clear pond lies still,
undisturbed.
