Give Credit Where it's due

One week before joy
One week before happiness
Lives were taken from the young, and old
By the cold heart of man
Children untouched by hate
People with ordinary lives
Wake up to see another day
But alas it is all cold
A place for learning,
A place for peace,
A place for young to dwell
Contention in the place of peace
People end up dead
The silent cry from children’s mouths
Are never to be heard
And the guilty to never be seen again
Mothers cry
Fathers weep
There young are with them no more
Families of the dead people gather to cry
Relief to those whose loved ones are alive
The place is better
Where the lost ones are
No more mist shrouds them
No darkness to cover them
No more frightening figures
To bother them
They will walk among people clad in white
They will go up to heaven
With clean hearts and minds
The man that doeth bad
May he feel horror in his action
May he weep in remorse for what he has done
Let him be in turmoil
Until the time comes at last
Most important
We watch ourselves
To be good and kind
And never lose our minds
The only war we have to fight
Is the one in our own mind
For we do not want to hurt
In the way we feel hurt
Let those who are gone smile upon our actions
The country feels for you,
The world feels your pain
I feel your pain
