"Be my friend, so we don't have to be enemies."

I hear there's a place—
way off in the distance—
where the sun shines red,
yet the nighttime never ends.

The grass is black, and air is heavy, and things stalk in the night.
Why, such a horror tapestry could show a demon fright.
If there is a place to be, god hope it isn't here;
in this realm lie things unholy—nothing sweet or dear.

Now you see them?
Hiding in the shadows?
Or maybe under a bridge?
Oh such sights are fit to make a full-grown monster cringe!

Well, welcome to my demon world.
Now you see like me.
See how easy it can be to make one's spirits sink?
Darkness will consume you now—
But, oh! Don't be afraid!
You'll be fine, I promise you,
If only you'll be brave.

The author's comments:
This poem was meant to represent (in a very abbreviated form) that moment in one's life where you transcend into the adult-based world of indecency and perversion. I made it's rhythm so hectic because that's how growing up can sometimes feel.
