pillow
something rather comforting
resides in those fibers
completely cotton, white like whispers
while being so good at being soothing,
it’s some type of animal
stimulating the delicate thoughts of the sensitive brain
of a fourteen-year-old
keeping it ready for attack mode
into the wee hours of the morning.
no escape nor cure
for this contagious conflict
i’d call it a war,
but nothing ever dies.
my pillow serves
as the battlefield of my mind
