Every word exchanged is but the rattling of a dying breath
We are give false hope of improvement, yet lay awaiting inevitable death
Each passing affection feels like a dreaded final goodbye
Each effort thrown towards healing is a pitiful, laughable cry
Yet the proverbial plug is too difficult to pull, no one can bear to make the move
So, here we sit in a deadlock, desperately clinging to all that we'll lose
