"A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world. "
-Oscar Wilde

Imagine a world of no knowledge,
A place of complete darkness,
And people filled with emptiness,
Is that a real nightmare?
Think of the solitary realm,
Where intellect is burned,
And all dreams are eradicated,
Is chaotic heat yet tasted?
Is it all so imaginary?
Could it possibly gain existence?
Humanity loses creative solace,
Soon anarchy will be unleashed.
Through that I'll stay fighting,
Rebelling with rivers of words,
Continuing my thoughts and Utopia,
Until I'm consumed by the flames.

I wrote this poem while reading Fahrenheit 451 in English class. The idea of a broken, empty, and dystopian society terrified me. I was scared of a world where I would be burned for doing what I love, which is writing. I wanted to just portray my feelings and my fears of the book. I found the book kind of boring, but the themes and ideas behind it were realistic and horrifying.
