Perfect is as perfect does
and perfect’s not my thing.
Yet I try so hard to be,
Smart,
Pretty,
Funny,
Thin ,
That I leave myself behind
My true self isn’t
Loud,
Crazy,
Or even risqué.
Underneath the lies I am
Quiet,
Relaxed,
Awkward,
Thicker.
Perfect is as perfect does
And perfect’s not my thing
I’ll leave behind my plastic shell,
And let the real me sing.
