Your touch so light
So quiet it is
The symmetrical pattern of colors and shapes
Sometimes I wish I was you
No worries to worry about,
Well maybe just a gust of wind,
But you're so beautiful, and I wonder
What helped make something so graceful?
You go past ever so gently and I wonder,
What helped make something so breathtaking
I sit outside, and there you go again, and again I wonder
What help make you so delicate?
So delicate if I touched you that you might snap
And then I wonder what made you so perplexed?
You're so perfect,
Whether it be your pattern today or your color
As blue and symmetrical as the ocean and the sky
As orange and red as a sunset on a long hot day
As green as the grass in Ireland
And I wonder, what painted your colors
And I wonder why
I might never know where or why you came, but don't leave me
And I wonder why you leave so soon
Maybe in my next life we could go by together
And you're something that makes me feel stable,
And something that makes me feel calm
And so I ask myself
Why, butterfly?
I wonder.
