Not So Happy Ending

“The lived happily ever after,”
That should’ve been her story’s end.
In reality she’s cute,
But he thinks they’d make better friends.
Her mother had always warned her
Not to give her heart to boys.
“They treat foolish girls
Like useless toys.
She paid no mind,
She loved as she pleased
She was briefly appeased.
Then he the heart-wrenching words
That marked the end
“I think we’re over,
But can we stay friends?”
