Cool grass under bare feet
Slowly it begins to heat
In the summer sun the water dries
In the summer drought crops die
On the horizon heat waves dance
People wearing shorts, never pants
The asphalt boiling
The workers toiling
Sweat beads down their faces
Running through their daily paces
Ice cream man comes out today
Small children come out to pay
Bomb pops, ice cream galore
Better than a candy store!
