the sea inside
a small glass bowl inhabits my brain
i have come to know the fish inside
quite well
there is a myriad of them
ranging in color from the pale azure of skies
to the deep burgundy of dried, lifeless roses
they swim and swim
chasing each other
two eyes for every view
and they murmur to me
i try to tell others but
only i understand the secret language
of their fins
even if i could preach
their curious thoughts
i feel as if everyone else's minds
are filled with a roaring ocean
that contains layers
of exotic and pure life
while i am here
with my goldfish
watching them swim
in circles
night after night.
