You were born today, dear daughter.
Your father and I cried when we saw your face.
The agony and pain, everything worth it.
As I lie here watching you sleep,I feel like you're growing at an incredibly fast pace.

You started kindergarten today, dear daughter.
Your father and I cried when you walked away.
Will you make friends? All of your five years have gone in a blink,
I wish you could forever stay this age.

You got your first boyfriend today, dear daughter.
Your father and I cried as you got in his car,
To go to your first date of dinner and a movie.
You're 15 years old now and sweetie, you're beginning to shine like a star.

You moved away for college today, dear daughter.
Your father and I cried when you packed the last box.
I hope all of your straight A's will keep you successful.
I will miss you so, I can still remember when you played with building blocks.

You got married today, dear daughter.
Your father and I cried as you walked down the aisle,
To join your high school sweetheart at the altar.
You are so beautiful, and that aisle you walked sure seemed to me like a mile.

You gave birth to your first baby today, dear daughter.
Your father and I cried when you named him after Dad.
He had your eyes and your nose, but your husband's hair.
To see you with your own family now makes me so glad.

Your father passed away today, dear daughter.
You and I cried as we received the news.
You're starting to research a cure for cancer because of him.
I miss him so much and I feel badly for you.

I got sick today, dear daughter.
Seems like I have cried all my tears.
I won't be able to write anymore and I don't want you to worry about me.
I had the greatest time ever raising you and I hope you overcome all your fears.
