sunday school for the blind and the deaf

Father talks about Adam and Eve,
who didn’t have to live in a hospital
He tells me God destroyed two whole cities
to teach people like me a lesson.
I clutch a fire-blanket
around my triangle-loved shoulders.
I am Nun.
Silence cooks my insides
I wear the sticky mask
Sweat slides down the V of my spine
Collects at my base
Father breaks my shell
with the sinking fear that
somewhere
you could be happy
