I scheduled fall to start at 2:30 today.
That way all the sleeping felines who make their homes
on the roof of my ferrari, will be awake to witness
the selfish beauty of the changing seasons.

Oh, and so that when the leaves start to drop
-slowly, at first, but then fastly-
I will have already gotten my mid-morning catnap in,
and can be totally focused on
such unspecific beginnings.


The author's comments:
I tried to capture how hypocritical our generation is, and how we feel entitled to anything and everything beautiful-I mean, who's really the selfish one in this poem?
