Underneath the Moon

The road is clear
like the night sky,
leaving only the stars
kissing the painted
black canvas above me

A light fills the path
before me
to where the road leads
me back home

I look to the source -
automatically it makes me
think of you
I'm left in awe
and a smile draws to my face
I feel comfort
as the crisp fall air
brushes against my skin
and a chill runs up my spine

As I close my eyes
I hear our song beginning to
fill the car around me
and I feel this peace and amenity
running through my veins

The car stops
I glance at the clock
it is midnight, on the dot
I slowly turn to the light above
Seeing that it has followed
me all the way home

A blissful tear falls from my eye
before I could wipe it away
it hit my lip
leaving its salty taste behind
because I knew
that wherever you are
you were looking to the same light
thinking of me

That makes me feel safe
