"Either the wallpaper goes, or I do"

Ten fingers
Ten toes,
in my mind the ghost knows,
my chest can fall, my chest can rise,
but I can hear the infant cries,
the man they were,
the men I am

Ten fingers
Ten toes,
in my heart the ghost knows.
I fought for we,
us lied to me.
I can still hear the battle cry,
in the trees a deadly sigh,
the man they were,
the men I am,

Ten fingers
Ten toes,
in my eyes the ghost shows,
you hear me better when I'm dead
what more is wanted; my life is bled,
I served my purpose,
removed all “surplus”
those lives now are gone,
sing my heroes song,

ten fingers
ten toes,
that is all my mind knows.

i wanted to acknowledge the soldiers who go to war and, though when they come back they looking unharmed, are struggling with issues of identity and guilt which other people do not understand.
