' I've always wanted to be one of those people who didn't really care what others thought about them, but I just don't think I am'

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I want my daddy home and so does mommy too
See he left about a year ago to go fight in war
I'm very proud of him for being in the Marine Corps
I know it may sound selfish, but he deserves to be home
And maybe when he gets back we can all go to Rome
Daddy you should Mommy really misses you
She's been solemn and sang along with being blue
I know you're out there trying to save the country an all
Ever since you've been gone, between us, there's been a big wall
I love you Daddy, please don't do this to use
You could run away, come home, hitch a bus
Oh Daddy the doorbell just rung, Mommy ran to get it
I wonder who it is; maybe it's that jacket you said you would knit
Mommy's coming back now with a letter and a very blue sack
Oh no, Daddy! they say you're dead, and you're never coming back!
Is this true Daddy? Is it all a joke? I know you always liked jokes!
Mommy says it's the truth, I'm going to cry Daddy, cry and choke
You lied, you said you would come back, you promised me!
You've hurt Mommy, Sister, and me, you said you'd never do that to use three
You're gone Daddy, it's over, you're not coming back, never ever never
Our family is torn apart Daddy, it's because of you that made it sever
Bye Daddy, I'll miss you, I hope you'll miss me too
I hope Heaven is nice for you, daddy, just remember, I love you

I wrote this from the heart, even though my father made it safe home from war, it just kind of dawned on me that I could've lost him.
